Hola, I'm Jorge, and I'm glad you're here.

I'm Jorge Amaya, a commercial photographer based in Sterling, Virginia. For over eight years, I've worked with companies, executives, attorneys, nonprofits, and individuals across Northern Virginia and Washington DC, helping them show up with clarity, confidence, and images that actually look like them.

How I got here

I grew up in Virginia, and photography found me early. Something about the process just clicked, the light, the people, the way a single frame could say everything a paragraph couldn't. What started as curiosity became a craft, and that craft became a career built around one simple idea: that great photography should feel easy for the person in front of the camera.

What actually happens when you're in front of my camera

Most people don't love being photographed. They feel stiff, self-conscious, or unsure of what to do with their hands. I get it, and it's exactly what I spend every shoot working against.

My job isn't just to take the shot. It's to get you to a place where the shot happens naturally. I'll move at a pace that feels right for you, talk you through what I'm doing, and take the time it needs. By the end, most clients tell me it felt less like a shoot and more like hanging out with a friend who just happens to have a camera. That's exactly what I'm going for.

01 I listen first. You tell me what you need, no pitch on the first call.

You tell me what you need. I ask questions and suggest an approach. No sales pitch, no commitment on the first call.

02 I build a plan. Shot list, schedule, and wardrobe, in writing before the shoot day.

Shot list, schedule, wardrobe, location logistics, priority images, in writing before the shoot day. Nothing figured out the morning of.

03 I run the shoot. I direct, light, and keep the energy calm and moving.

I direct posing, manage lighting, and keep the energy calm and moving. Most people forget they were nervous. Your only job is to show up.

04 You get the gallery. Organized files in your inbox in 7 to 10 business days.

The four kinds of work I do

I work across four areas.

A corporate headshot on a clean white background.

Corporate Headshots

For teams, executives, and offices across Northern Virginia and Washington DC. On-location, consistent, and built around your schedule.

A professional portrait, photographed on location in an office library.

Professional Portraits

For founders, attorneys, speakers, and personal brands who need imagery that carries real weight.

Colleagues collaborate around a laptop in a bright conference room.

Commercial Production

For marketing teams, companies, nonprofits, and fitness brands that need a planned set of images tied to a specific business outcome. A launch, a website refresh, a recruiting push, a campaign.

Event Photography

For conferences, summits, association meetings, and galas. Documented with a clear shot plan and the instinct to find the real moment.

At the end of the day, I don't want to hand you just another photo. I want to give you an image that reflects your story, your energy, and your presence, something you'll actually be proud to use.

Thanks for being here. I'm looking forward to creating something real with you.

Con un gran abrazo, Jorge Amaya
